On Wednesday 1 August 2012, 140 villagers and invited guests gathered at the Silver Jubilee playing field to celebrate the completion of the improvement work enabled due to funding from the Rural Development Programme for England, Communities Mean Business LEADER programme.

We were entertained during the afternoon by Punch and Judy. Face painters had a patient queue and a gallery of 'Play at the Park' paintings provided by Brocton Pre-school playgroup were on display. Two junior coaches from Brocton Football Club helped to make good use of the newly returfed football area; helping our young footballers with basic skills and training tips.

Our Parish Council Chairman, Bob Mudway, invited Jeremy Lefroy MP to plant a new tree as a lasting reminder of the help the Parish had received. Mr Lefroy was joined in the task by Lara Evans and then many of the children at the playing field readily helped complete the task.
