Please see details below regarding the Best Kept Village competition for 2019.  If there are any residents who are interested in Brocton submitting an entry please let the Clerk know.  Further information about the BKV can be obtained via the email address/phone number shown at the bottom of this entry.

The Community Foundation for Staffordshire has taken over running BKV after the closure of the Community Council of Staffordshire, although for those of you involved recently, John Perry MBE is still chairing the BKV Working Group.
We are writing to encourage all villages to enter the competition this year, regardless of if you entered last year, in a recent year, or maybe not for many years.
I only got involved in tying up BKV 2018 but was still struck at what a beneficial impact the competition had on many villages, not only aesthetically, but the positive sense of spirit and community it fostered.
We have also noticed estate agents increasingly highlighting BKV villages, it’s not surprising that BKV is likely to make villages more attractive, prosperous and abundant places to live.
I was struck that only one of the four area winners also won last year. So, please don’t think it’s always the same old villages winning. Two of the four area winners had never won before, one of which hadn’t entered since the competition began in 1956.

So, please do let us know if you would like to enter. We would like expressions of interest by 18 February 2019, with the closing date for receiving entries by 25 March 2019.

Please reply to bkv@staffsfoundation.org.uk to let us know, then we can send you further details. Feel free to call 01785 339540 with any queries.
